Sliema Wanderers have the difficult task of stopping a very motivated Valletta team when they square up to each other this Saturday at 4pm at Ta Qali. Coach Danilo Doncic, is facing huge headaches and is sweating on the fitness of many players as Sliema come up against the current league leaders.
Mark Scerri and Eyenga will definitely be missing this game through suspension after both players were handed 1 and 2 match bans respectively. On the positive side, Ryan Grech returns for the Blues after having served his 1 match ban. The Blues might be without star player Dani Mitev, as the Bulgarian star got the good news in that he hasn’t suffered any fracture to his foot following a heavy challenge from a Balzan player towards the end of the first half during the Blues last league match. However, he is rated as very doubtful for this match.
Sliema captain, Alex Muscat is also struggling for fitness as is Josef Mifsud and Beppe Muscat who had to sit out last match due to injuries. Valletta will definitely be without 3 suspended players, as their Nigerian forward Effiong was slapped with a 3 match ban. Also ex Sliema player Roderick Briffa is also suspended for the citizens as well and Edmond Agius.
Roderick Bajada can make his first appearance against the Blues following his move from the Blues to Valletta on loan for the reminder of the season. Valletta will defiantly be seeking to pile the pressure on the Blues from the first minute as they come in search of victory.
